The Color Code

The vehicle dashboard gives you many types of light. While it is important to understand what each of these means, the first thing to look for the is the color.
Need to give an image of different types of icons that may appear

RED: Its an emergency alert system and to warn you not to proceed with using the vehicle until the issue is resolved. It covers most of the important points under personal safety and road safety. Example includes: Oil Pressure Light, Coolant Temperature Light, Battery Warning Light, Transmission Warning Light, Power Steering Light, Handbrakes & Seatbelts.

YELLOW: It’s a warning system which informs you that a malfunction is happening and needs to be reviewed or checked. These items do not usually require an emergency stop or towing but you will have sufficient time to take to a Mechanic or relevant place to be looked upon. Example includes: Engine Light, Tire Pressure, Oil Change, ABS, Low Fuel & Washer Fluid warning lights.

The Myth of Engine Warning Light

The Engine Warning light or otherwise called Check Engine Light is the most infamous warning system. It’s also called as malfunction indicator light. The check engine light is a general indicator of many types of faults/malfunctions including emission controls, powertrain or any other components of the engine.
The simplest field check would be to check the gas cap of the vehicle. Check if it is tight enough with the click noise on lock up. If the light is still on, take the vehicle to a nearby repair shop for a full diagnostic.
Keep in mind that it's normal for the check engine light to flash when you first start the vehicle. It's only an issue if the light stays on after starting the car.

Conclusion:

Warning lights should be taken care of and at the same time it’s also important to not take an action without identifying a conclusive cause of the issue. Error code clearance by scanning tools are only a temporary fix and the root cause of the warning lights should always be looked upon. The most common errors found in modern cars start with an electric short circuit.
