Self Assessment of Your Vehicle

Take a moment to Inspect your VehicleIt is utmost important as a Vehicle owner to ensure your own as well as passenger safety. Spending as little as 5 mins a day to inspect your vehicle, will help to ensure that there are no breakdowns or safety related issues. Here are the quickest ways to check your vehicle before you start your day.

Check under the Vehicle:

Look for any traces of Oil / Grease under the space where you park your vehicle every day. This can help you identify any major fluid leaks , that may even cause Engine damages. Major leaks can occur spontaneously and a daily check can help you identify any key issues.

Under the Hood:

Inspect all the fluid levels. Check the engine oil level and condition at least once in 2 days and visit a mechanic if there is any depreciation. Inspect your coolant levels and top up if required. Always use approved coolants since a routine top up with water can change the properties of the Engine Coolant. Inspect the drive belts for any signs of wear and tear, or any oil deposits. Start the engine and observe any abnormal sounds or vibrations.

A Quick Walkaround:

Inspect tires for any deflated condition. A closer look at tires can also let you see any abnormal wear and tear pattern. Inspect the shock absorbers for any type of leaks. Accumulated dust can be a sign of leaky shock absorbers.
Check all the working condition of lights and for any dents in the body of the vehicle. Check all the door locks and child lock systems.

Dashboard:

Check for any warning lights on your dashboard. Observe the rpm of your vehicle under idle / standby conditions. Most of the vehicles maintain an idle rpm of 800 – 900 at the ideal conditions. A high rpm can be an indication of many faults which should be checked by a professional.

First Drive:

Check the brake system prior to driving the vehicle. Check for any brake or suspension noises after while using them or while in motion.
Conclusion
Simple as it sounds, all it takes is 5 mins to perform all of the above. Performing daily self-inspections on your vehicle offers numerous benefits, including improved safety, extended vehicle lifespan, enhanced fuel efficiency, early detection of issues, and peace of mind knowing your car is in optimal condition.
